The scribe of the notes of Bv34 probably wrote the beginning on the usual lines with “F” and “c” (which were already marked in this way?); the Custos at the end of the line and the tonally correct notes from the second line onwards then allow us to conclude retroactively that the beginning in the tonality of the DT is so compellingly logical.
