„eius in“ Im Gegensatz zu GT und GrN schreiben wir do-la-la. Es ist verwunderlich, dass GrN unkommentiert bei GT bleibt (sol-sol): A, Y, Kl und Mp notieren, bei gleichem Einstieg, „la-la“. Bv34 ist wegen des erniedrigten Einstiegs fa-la-si kein gültiger Zeuge; vielleicht sogar umgekehrt ein Zeuge für „la“ wegen der Terz nach unten „si-sol-sol“ = „do-la-la“. Das einzige Argument für einen Quartfall könnte das falsch gelesene „inferius“ unter der Liqueszenz „e-ius“ sein. Ein „inferius“ oder „sursum“ unter der Liqueszenzschlaufe ist jedoch nie ein melodischer Hinweis, sondern immer auf den Klang der Liqueszenz bezogen. Die Reverenzhandschriften des GR von 1908 sind üblicherweise (immer?) Mp und Kl do-la-la! Die Vermutung, dass hier Pothier seinem Gefühl folgend („tradition vivante“) gegen die Quellen (Mocquereau „tradition legitime“) notiert hat, ist nicht von der Hand zu weisen.
“stellam eius in oriente” 🍎🍏 2 Melodietraditionen: Bv gegen A+Y. Das GT hat keinen Beleg in den Hss. Es fehlt L (Lage der Weihnachtszeit. keine Quelle bringt denQuartfall do-“sol“ von GT (“eius”). Die komplizierte Lage scheint uns aus dem Versuch zu resultieren, den Quartfall la-mi “o-ri-en-tem” zu verhindern. Genau der ist aber durch die Gravis in E abgesichert. Die BzG lassen den ganzen Teil unkommentiert.

The only argument for a fourth interval could be the misread ‘inferius’ beneath the liquefaction ‘e-ius’. However, an ‘inferius’ or ‘sursum’ beneath the liquefaction loop is never a melodic indication, but always relates to the sound of the liquefaction. The reference manuscripts of the GR from 1908 are usually (always?) Mp and Kl do-la-la! The suggestion that here Pothier, following his intuition (“tradition vivante”), notated against the sources (Mocquereau “tradition legitime”) cannot be dismissed out of hand.
“stellam eius in oriente” 🍎🍏 2 melodic traditions: Bv versus A+Y. The GT has no evidence in the manuscripts. L is missing (position during the Christmas season). No source provides the quartal cadence do-“sol” from the GT (“eius”). The complicated situation seems to us to result from an attempt to prevent the quartal cadence la-mi “o-ri-en-tem”. However, this is precisely what is secured by the Gravis in E. The BzG leave the entire section uncommented.
